Hold on to Your Pants!!

Ahhh you know we love our fashion fixer accessories and now we have a new favorite … the isABelt!!

As busy moms we are so tired of dealing with gaps in the back of our pants (displaying waaayyy too much) Before isABelt the only solutions to this problem were:

1) holding on to our pants, or yanking down our shirt, every time we bent down to tie little shoes or pick up the dropped car keys,

2) high rise “mom-pants” (yikes never a good look!), or

3) bulky unflattering belts that add bumps and rolls exactly where we don’t want them!

Now thanks to isABelt we can wear our favorite low rise jeans without flashing anyone and having our kids tease us…life is good again!

Brilliant idea, we love our isABelt!

Three BFF’s on AMNW

Dani Juhala PDX ShopGirl (left), Jayne Dearborn of Designs By Jayne (center) and Cindy Aggson of The Carpe Viam Group (right) all shared the spotlight in a recent feature on AMNW.

Dani has a regular fashion and shopping segment on AMNW where she guides women to look and feel their best with her expert fashion and image consulting advice.  She often graciously includes friends who have businesses and products that she believes in.

Jayne was featured on Dani’s Sept. 24th, 2008 segment where she served up her ‘Freshest Handbags for Fall’.  Designs By Jayne are deliciously gorgeous handbags.  Each handmade with love and of exquisite quality.  Ladies, do yourselves a favor and treat yourself to one of Jayne’s works of art and make your girlfriends drool!

Cindy Aggson, who owns a successful marketing consulting group, runs the annual Give ‘n Gobble – a non profit event raising money for local food banks, as well as owns and operates a personalized gift business called Character Tree, was kind enough to lend her modeling skills to the mix and voila!  I’m SOOOOO proud of you all!!

HUGS!

~ Katie

I’M GIVING AWAY A FREE iPHONE!

I’M IN THE MOOD TO GIVE, AND I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE YOU A FREE iPHONE!!

Submit your funniest fashion faux pas and you could be the winner, it’s that simple!

And now we’ve made it SUPER EASY!  You can now SUBMIT A WRITTEN ENTRY right from this blog post!

Everyone loves a good story or video of someone being caught in a funny or embarrassing situation. So do we! The fashion fixer, Kix By Katie, is all about one specific wardrobe malfunction ~ the Heel Wedgie, where the fabric of your pants gets all bunched up between your heel and shoe when you wear long pants and open back heels. This can be an embarrassing situation for many women. It can also be quite a humorous sight to see, especially since the only solution to this problem, before Kix By Katie, was to perform the infamous donkey kick or the ever popular one legged shimmy. You could opt for the more conservative grab and jerk move but this is usually only good for a few steps before it has to be repeated.

So if you have a home video of a funny fashion faux pas caught in action? We’d love to see it! Maybe you have a great story about you or a friend who had a wardrobe malfunction.  We want to hear about it!  Or do you have a great idea for a funny fashion mishap video? Film it and submit it. Get your creative juices flowing because Kix By Katie is looking for YOU!

HOW TO ENTER:

  • To submit a VIDEO entry – please see rules and regulations at  http://www.kixbykatie.com/
  • To submit a WRITTEN entry – Please tell us your story in the comment section of this post below.

Tic Toc!  Times a wastin’!  Entry deadline is Dec. 31st 2008!

Congratulations in advance on your Free iPhone! : )

Kix Hits the Red Carpet & Everyone Wins at the Emmys!

This past Sunday evening all eyes were on the red carpet to check out the latest styles and fashion trends at the 60th Annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Celebrities have most likely chosen their elegant designer wear, bejeweled themselves and are having those last moment butterflies before they take the “walk”… and of course they are all hoping to avoid any Tara Reid-like serious wardrobe malfunctions. While not all of the evening’s nominees will take home the winged statuette, those that don’t win will get the gift that keeps on giving – an “Everyone Wins at the Emmys” nominee celebrity gift bag that will, hopefully, soften the blow of not winning.

And this year the best part is that our lovely mompreneur Katie Johnson was selected to include her exciting new fashion fixer (Kix By Katie) to the gift bags. That means Kix will be helping the following celebrities say goodbye to heel wedgies! Wow, what an honor, CONGRATS Katie I have goosebumps for you!!

Sofada was a Smashing Success!

The rooftop of Jax on a beautiful fall evening was the perfect venue and setting for the Sofada fashion show!  Sofada designer Alice Dobson’s collection was irresistable, the models were not only gorgeous but also charming and workin’ it to bursts of applause!   Katie and I ran into another incredible local designer Jayne Dearborn (check out her exquisitely delicious handbags), and enjoyed a gorgeous night under the stars sipping yummy cocktails and helping Sofada raise money for good cause.

Here’s the scoop on Sofada: “Alice’s vision for clothing is inspired by her childhood growing up on the boardwalks of the Oregon Coast, bike rides in Amsterdam, and the unabashed purity of yesteryear. Sofada strives to make comfortable, beautiful clothes with depth. We’ve gone

about this by using soft fabrics with a textured emphasis and impeccable tailoring, ideally lending the garment a special feel and timeless quality.”

Interestingly Katie and Alice are long lost cousins recently reconnected thanks to Alice’s wonderful grandma, design, entrepreneurial drive and a passion for “doing well while doing good for the community” must run in the family – you go girls!

Caution Highly Habit Forming!

What do they say at those AA meetings oh that’s right, the first thing is to acknowledge you have a problem so here it goes… Hi my name is Katie and I’m a shoe-a-holic!

I’ve always loved shoes but now I’m in love with shoes thanks to Angelo Anastasio’s Trunk show at Zelda’s Shoe Bar.  Cindy and I bought our first pair of truly spectacular Italian shoes (we can’t tell you how much they cost b/c the hubbies might read this too) and found it to be highly habit forming! Scary fun actually, amazing how good a really fabulous pair of shoes can make you feel about yourself.  We are already planning which pair we’d sell our souls for next!

So what’s the 12-step program for us shoe-aholics?

We fell head over heels!

..for Angelo Anastasio and his traffic-stopping line of GORGEOUS Italian line of shoes. You would too

if somebody read the Italian love note below to you in Italian, it’ll make your toes curl.  We can’t do it justice in English but we wanted you to see the note he put in the lid of each box of his lucious shoes…

“My Love

Live every day with passion

as if you lived all your life

for that day

My Love

To the world you are

just another person

to me you are my world

My Love

When we are together

if I could I would stop time

because the second you are gone

I already miss you so much”

We miss you Angelo – thanks for rocking our world!

It’s getting HOT in here!! So take off all your…

This song was stuck in our heads all night while we were attending what was truly Portland’s HOTTESTFashion Show – Rock the Runway!  And we do mean HOT in every sense of the word from the sexy fashions, show-stoppin’ shoes, spicy lingerie and oh yes did we mention it was 90 degrees indoors at 11pm at night during the late August heat wave!?   But with the beautiful people, scrumptious food, cold cocktails, rockin’ music,  and talented designers they Rocked the Runway in style and it made for an unforgettable night!!

This amazing event was put together by talented women at The Shoe Club and funds raised from the event, sponsors and auction (see the killer shoes in our basket below – wow!) benefit The Shoe Fairy

and the Oregon Food Bank
